The assignment had seemed to be a simple one when it was doled out. We were to shadow the son of the ambassador to keep tabs on his whereabouts. There was no explanation given of why he was important.
The agency had paired Katherine Miller with me. Katherine was 20 years my junior and had been in the field only two years but had an impressive record of getting out of questionable situations. Like me, no one knew she was an agent for the United States government.
He was on the move again. It was curious as to why he was here in a dark, out of the way place. A light filtered into the alley from an opening door. A large man stepped out and gestured to the ambassador's son. They must have been watching for him. They went inside and the light was shut off from the alley. Now all we could do was wait.

I remember the time when both our families went to the beach. The weather was perfect and the sky was clear. The beach was wide with soft white sand that simply got everywhere. There were large oak trees not far from the sand that had little picnic tables underneath. We chose the one that looked the least worn, set all our stuff down, and made our way out to the water. The water was cold, but just perfect for the warm day.
Once the sun began to go down we built a huge bonfire that, at one point, got too big, so we had to put it out and make a new one. Everyone roasted hot dogs and marshmallows (the usual fare). Later that night, we brought out the telescope and watched as a meteor shower carpeted the sky. After all, that's why we had come. A truly wonderful sight as they streaked across the sky.
After it was all over, we packed everything up and said our goodbyes. What a great time... < /dream sequence>
